After some unexpected delays, the 10th Annual Homegrown Art Show is now accepting entries!
Artists of all ages are invited to submit works of art for the Provo City Library’s annual amateur art show. The purpose of this juried show is to encourage and cultivate the creativity of Provo’s amateur artists (an amateur artist is someone who does not derive a steady income from, or teach art). We accept entries in 2-D and 3-D visual art, including (but not limited to) paintings, drawings, photographs, sculpture, ceramic, glass, and metal art.
Applicants may enter up to three pieces for consideration.
Entries are due by August 31 at 11:59 PM.
The Homegrown Art Show will be on display from October 3-31. There will also be interactive art activities happening in the Attic the entire month of October.
" I am a painter of women and trees. Through art-making, I work through my personal struggles, weaknesses, and joys. I love to paint women who are not glamorous, camera-ready, or professional models. I find a beauty and realness in them; whether it be a young mother holding her baby, an old woman who has lived a long, hard life, or a gnarled, twisted-up tree.
I intuitively use colors, lines, and shapes to validate the human experience and make connections to women of the past and present. I want these women to know that they are seen, they are strong, and they are beautiful.
If you are an artist interested in exhibiting work at the Library, please call 801-852-7685. We regularly display local work in the Anderson Art Gallery. The Attic at Academy Square features professional exhibits and hosts our annual Homegrown Amateur Art Show.
